Baseball senior night usually happens on the last home game of the spring — seniors and their parents walk out before first pitch, presented one at a time on the chalk line between home plate and the dugout. The card sits on a presentation table next to the program and the flowers, in a 5×7 picture frame the team-mom or one of the dads sourced from the dollar store the week before.
Photo choice matters here. Don’t use the team-photo-day portrait (those exist in the yearbook). Use a swing-mid-pitch shot from a real game, or the post-game on-field huddle, or the senior at the mound with the rosin bag. Action photos in late-afternoon outdoor light photograph cleanest on inkjet printers; gym-light shots from indoor batting cages tend to read flat.
The senior-night card stack — what every parent prints
Three pieces, in this order:
- One Enlarged 3.5″ × 5″ card per senior, framed in a 5×7 picture frame. This is the centerpiece — what gets handed to the senior at midfield/midcourt during the pre-game ceremony.
- One Normal 4-up sheet per senior, cut into 4 cards. The senior keeps one, hands one each to mom, dad, and a sibling (or grandparents). The cards last forever in a binder sleeve.
- One Team 9-up sheet, uncut, slipped into a 9-pocket page in the team binder. Permanent record of the senior class for next year's seniors to look back at.
Total cost per senior: ~$3 in card stock + $1-3 frame from the dollar store. The team-mom usually fronts it and the parents kick in.
Baseball senior night — what we hear from coaches
Three things baseball coaches consistently mention about senior night cards:
