Brands & inspections
Where the state gets involved in a stock sale.
In the western brand states — Texas, Colorado, Montana, Wyoming, Idaho, Nevada, and others — cattle can’t legally change hands without a brand inspection, and the inspector will want this bill of sale as proof of the deal. List every animal’s ear tag, RFID, or brand in the identification line (attach a tag list for larger lots), and record whether the price is per head or for the lot in the additional-terms box.
Crossing a state line? Most interstate movements need a certificate of veterinary inspection (CVI) issued within 30 days — note its number alongside the health status and any pregnancy-check or bull soundness findings.

What is a livestock bill of sale?
A paper record of the transfer.
A livestock bill of sale documents the date, price, head count, and identification (ear tags, brands) of the animals sold, with signatures from buyer and seller. Each keeps a copy for brand inspection and herd records.
