Masquerade Party Invitations

Three masquerade invitations: Masquerade Ball, an ornate Venetian-style eye mask with filigree and a feather plume in a gilded frame, badged Masks Required; Crossed Masks, a feathered mask and a Colombina-style mask crossed and tied with a ribbon, headed A Masked Affair; and Masquerade, letter-spaced capitals between hairline rules with a small mask ornament, very spare. The backs carry the dress code: Black tie optional, masks provided at the door. Masquerade Ball opens in Ivory & Gold, Crossed Masks in Mauve & Silver and Masquerade in Navy & Gold.

Hosting tip
Decide whether masks are required or just encouraged, and say which: Masquerade Ball says Masks Required, Masquerade says Masks Encouraged. If you can, keep a basket of simple masks by the door for guests who forgot; both samples promise exactly that.
How it works

Details, wording, colors, download

Open any design above in the maker. Type the hosts' names, the date and the place; the details sit in small capitals on the back, with one line for the dress code or what will be served. A smooth ivory or cream card stock shows the fine lines best.

Pick one of the three palettes drawn for the design, then download a 5 x 7 PDF (front and back), a two-per-sheet letter PDF for home printing, print-shop PNGs with bleed, 4 x 6 PNGs for a photo counter, a phone-sized PNG to text or email, or a Word file. For more lines to put on the card, see the party invitation wording ideas and the party etiquette guide.

Frequently asked questions

What should I wear to a masquerade party?
A mask, plus whatever the dress code says. Most masquerades are cocktail attire or black tie optional; put that line on the back so guests don't have to guess.
Is there a red and black masquerade invitation?
Masquerade Ball and Crossed Masks both have a Burgundy & Gold palette, which reads as deep red with gold on ivory. Masquerade Ball's Navy & Silver suits a silver and blue color scheme.
Are these for Mardi Gras or Halloween?
They're drawn for a masquerade at any time of year. The Halloween invitations have their own masquerade designs, and Mardi Gras will get its own.
