Tips for the best result

Useful for federal-aligned planners. If your work runs on the US federal fiscal year (Oct 1 – Sep 30) — federal agencies, defense work, federal contractors, many state governments — this layout matches your planning rhythm.

Landscape for the wall. Landscape orientation keeps the 12 mini-months wide and legible — best for office or planning-room walls.

Holidays stay accurate. Each month's holidays are computed for the right calendar year, so the cross-year boundary (Dec → Jan) doesn't break MLK Day, Inauguration Day, or any other date-driven observance.

Need a non-US fiscal year? The Academic Calendar generator lets you pick any start month — use it for UK (Apr–Mar), Australian (Jul–Jun), or Japanese (Apr–Mar) fiscal years.

Frequently asked questions

What is a fiscal year and who uses it?
A fiscal year is a 12-month accounting period that doesn't have to align with the calendar year. The US federal government uses October 1 → September 30, so 'FY 2026' runs Oct 1 2025 → Sep 30 2026. Federal agencies, defense contractors, many state governments, and businesses serving them plan against this calendar instead of (or in addition to) the regular January-start year.
Is this US federal fiscal year specifically?
Yes — Oct → Sep, matching the US federal government convention. Other countries use different fiscal years (UK is April → March, Australia is July → June, Japan is April → March). If you need a non-US fiscal year, the Academic Calendar generator lets you pick any start month and produces the same 12-on-one-page format.
How do holidays line up across the fiscal year boundary?
Each month's holidays are computed for that month's actual calendar year. So in FY 2026 (Oct 2025 → Sep 2026): Thanksgiving 2025 falls in November, MLK Day 2026 in January, Memorial Day 2026 in May, July 4 2026 in July. The transition from calendar 2025 to calendar 2026 happens cleanly at the December → January boundary in the middle of the page.
When should I pick the fiscal year vs. just the academic year?
Use Fiscal Year Calendar if your context is government, defense, federal contracting, or a business whose books align with the federal fiscal year. Use the Academic Calendar (Aug → Jul or Sep → Aug) for school calendars. Both layouts are identical otherwise — only the start month differs.
Can I write events directly into the fiscal year calendar?
No — this is a one-page reference view. For day-by-day event tracking across the fiscal year, print 12 monthly Event Calendars (each fillable) and bind them as a fiscal-year planner.
