Year at a glance for planners, homeschool and academic years

Bullet journalers use it as the future-log spread. Homeschoolers and teachers often want it August-to-July instead — that's the academic calendar template. For two or three years on one sheet see the two year calendar, and for the whole year on one line, the linear calendar.

Tips for the best result

Landscape for wall display. Landscape orientation gives each mini-month a wider, more legible layout — best for a wall or bulletin-board calendar.

Portrait for binders. Portrait orientation fits neatly into a 3-ring binder or clipboard planner.

Holidays are marked. US federal holidays plus popular observances (Easter, Mother's Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving, etc.) get a soft blue highlight on the correct dates.

Frequently asked questions

When is a year-at-a-glance calendar more useful than a monthly one?
When you need long-range visibility — booking vacations months out, planning a school year, mapping product launches, or tracking quarterly milestones. The trade-off is per-day writing space: each day cell is small, so this format is for orientation, not journaling. Pair with a monthly event calendar if you need both views.
Portrait or landscape — which should I pick?
Landscape gives each mini-month a wider, more legible layout — best for a wall or bulletin board. Portrait fits neatly into a 3-ring binder or clipboard planner. Both options are one click in the generator.
Can I pick any year, or just the current one?
Any year from 2025 onward, several years out. Holidays auto-shift to the right dates for the year you choose — Easter, Mother's Day, Thanksgiving, MLK Day, etc. all land on their correct dates per year.
How is this different from the multi-year calendar?
Year at a Glance shows ONE year on one page. The multi-year calendar shows 2 or 3 full years on one landscape page — denser, but useful when your planning runway crosses calendar years (school terms, baby's first years, multi-year projects).
Will Sundays or Mondays start the week?
Sunday-start (the US convention). If you need Monday-start (ISO standard, common outside the US), it's not currently a toggle on this generator — let us know via the feedback widget if you'd use it.
Are these calendars really free?

Is there a Word or editable version of the year at a glance calendar?
It's a fillable PDF rather than a Word template: generate it here with the year and layout you want, then type notes into it in any PDF viewer. That's usually quicker than editing a Word year-at-a-glance and it keeps the twelve grids aligned when you print.
