12 Funeral Memorial Card Templates

A memorial card is the keepsake of the service: a photograph, a name, two dates and a line or two of verse on a card about four inches by five. These twelve templates print four to a sheet, and in the PDF you type the details once and all four cards fill in.

On the card

What to put on a funeral memorial card

  • A heading: In Loving Memory, In Memory of, or Celebrating the Life of.
  • A photograph, usually a head-and-shoulders portrait.
  • The full name, with a nickname in quotes if everyone used it.
  • Dates of birth and death, in full or as years.
  • Two to four lines of scripture or poetry, with the source beneath.

That is all a card this size holds comfortably. Service details belong on the program; on a card that will be kept for years they date quickly. If the cards are standing in for a program, replace the verse with the day, time and place.

Cutting and paper

Printing memorial cards at home

  1. Print one sheet on plain paper and check the photo and spelling.
  2. Load cardstock, 65 to 80 lb, and print the number of sheets you need: one sheet makes four cards.
  3. Cut along the dashed lines, once down the middle and once across.
  4. Trim the outer margin if you want all four edges even; each card finishes at about 4 by 5¼ inches.

Cards this size fit an A2 envelope, the common invitation size, for mailing with a note.

Questions families ask

What size is a funeral memorial card?
There is no single standard. Quarter-sheet cards like these, about 4 by 5¼ inches, are common because four fit a Letter page; print shops also sell 4¼ by 5½ and smaller wallet sizes. For the wallet size, see our prayer cards.
How many memorial cards should I print?
One per guest is usual when cards are handed out at the door, plus extras to send with thank-you notes. Twenty-five sheets make a hundred cards.
Can I put a verse on the back?
These print on one side. To add a back, print the sheets, turn the stack over and print a second document with the verse in the same four positions, or use a prayer card, which is laid out for two sides.
