Free Project Manager Resume Templates

Free, ATS-friendly project manager resume templates in Microsoft Word and Google Docs. Each puts your certifications (PMP, CSM, PMI-ACP) up front, has labeled methodology and tools blocks, and frames experience around scope, schedule, budget, and outcomes — exactly what recruiters and applicant tracking systems screen a project management resume for.

The templates

Four PM designs, each in three colors.

Keystone for corporate PMP, Sprint for agile and scrum masters, Blueprint for construction and ops, and Summit for program and portfolio directors — pick a style, then the color you like. Every one opens in Word or Google Docs, stays on one page, and is built to be ATS-friendly.

What to include

What goes on a project manager resume.

Recruiters scan a PM resume in seconds for ownership, metrics, and a delivery track record — not a list of duties. Put these where they’ll be seen; it’s what these templates are built around:

  • Certifications up front. After your name (Rachel Collins, PMP) and in a near-top section — PMP, CSM, PMI-ACP, PRINCE2, SAFe, CAPM, Lean Six Sigma. Burying them at the bottom is the #1 mistake.
  • A metrics-driven summary. Lead with scope and scale: budget managed, team size, on-time rate. The stat strip at the top of each template is there to surface those numbers.
  • Methodologies & tools, labeled. Agile/Scrum, Waterfall, Hybrid, Kanban, Stage-Gate; Jira, MS Project, Asana, Smartsheet, Confluence, Primavera P6, Procore. A dedicated skills block is what the ATS matches against.
  • Quantified bullets. Action verb + what you did + a number: on-time %, $ budget, team size, on-budget rate. “Delivered a $12M integration two months ahead of schedule” beats “responsible for project delivery.”

Different industry or level? The same base template adapts — swap the tools and methodology lines. Use Sprint for IT / agile / scrum master, Blueprint for construction and ops, Keystone for corporate PMP, and Summitfor program and portfolio directors. No PMP yet? Lead with transferable skills and CAPM — these layouts work for project coordinators and entry-level PMs too.

Make it yours

Fill it in and apply.

  1. Click Open in Google Docs to copy it into your Drive, or Download Word for the .docx.
  2. Put your certifications by your name and up top, and set your methodologies and tools in the labeled skills blocks.
  3. Rewrite the bullets as quantified outcomes — budget, team size, on-time and on-budget rates — and mirror the keywords from the job posting.
  4. Keep it to one page, export a PDF for emailing and a Word copy for ATS portals, and tailor it per application.
Common questions

Project manager resume FAQ

What should a project manager resume include?
A reverse-chronological layout with a metrics-driven professional summary, a certifications line (e.g., PMP, CSM), a skills section covering methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid) and tools (Jira, MS Project, Smartsheet), and experience bullets framed around scope, schedule, budget, risk, stakeholders, and outcomes — each quantified (on-time %, $ budget managed, team size). Every template here is built around exactly that.
Do I need a PMP certification to be a project manager?
No. PMP requires about three years of experience and suits mid-to-senior roles. For entry-level or career-changers, CAPM is the better fit — lead with transferable skills and any Agile/Scrum exposure. If you do hold a PMP, put it after your name and in a certifications section near the top, never buried at the bottom.
How do I make a project manager resume ATS-friendly?
Use a single-column or clean two-column, reverse-chronological format with standard fonts, simple bullets, and consistent dates. Keep skills as plain text (no graphics), save as .docx, and mirror the job description's keywords — methodologies, tools, and certifications. These Word and Google Docs templates are built ATS-clean by default.
How do I quantify achievements on a PM resume?
Tie every bullet to a number: budget managed ($), team size (#), on-time delivery rate (%), on-budget rate, schedule variance, or efficiency gain. Example: "Delivered a $4.2M ERP rollout two weeks ahead of schedule across five cross-functional teams, achieving a 98% on-time milestone rate." The metrics strip at the top of these templates is there to surface those numbers.
What's the difference between a project manager and a program manager resume?
A program manager oversees multiple related projects toward a strategic outcome — a "super PM." Program-manager resumes emphasize portfolio scope, governance, roadmaps, and stakeholder alignment across initiatives, while PM resumes emphasize single-project delivery (scope, schedule, budget). Using the wrong keywords lowers your ATS match — the Summit templates are tuned for program/portfolio directors, the others for project delivery.
How is an agile / scrum master resume different from a traditional PM resume?
Agile resumes foreground ceremonies and artifacts — sprint planning, stand-ups, reviews, retrospectives, backlog grooming, velocity, burndown — plus certifications like CSM or PMI-ACP and tools like Jira and Confluence. Traditional PM resumes lean on Waterfall, Gantt, MS Project, and phase-gate delivery. The Sprint templates are built for the agile side; hybrid candidates should show both.
How long should a project manager resume be?
One page for under about ten years of experience; up to two for senior project managers or program and portfolio leaders with deep delivery history. Prioritize recent, quantified, high-impact projects over a complete job-by-job inventory. Every template here is designed to stay clean and readable on one page.
