Free Consultant Resume Templates
Free, ATS-friendly consultant resume templates in Microsoft Word and Google Docs — five consultant archetypes, each with its own signature device: a 2×2 strategy matrix, a current→future transformation, a risk heatmap, a client roster, and a conversion funnel. Whether you're a management or strategy consultant, an IT / technical / SAP / Salesforce consultant, a financial & risk advisory consultant, an independent / freelance / 1099 consultant, or a marketing & growth consultant — and whether you're at a Big 4 firm, a boutique, on your own, or breaking in with a career change — pick the layout that matches your practice. Every one foregrounds what consulting hiring values: quantified client impact, engagements, frameworks, and credentials.
Five consultant archetypes, each in three colors.
Strategy / Management (2×2 matrix) for MBB/Big 4 and MBA candidates · Technology / IT (current→future) for technical, SAP, Salesforce, and ERP consultants · Financial & Risk Advisory (risk heatmap) for risk, audit, and compliance · Independent / Freelance (client roster + day rate) for self-employed, 1099, and fractional consultants · Marketing / Growth (conversion funnel) for growth and demand-gen consultants. Every one opens in Word or Google Docs, holds on one page, and is built to be ATS-friendly.
What goes on a consultant resume.
A consultant is hired to advise clients and deliver scoped engagements — so the resume has to read as a portfolio of engagements with quantified ROI, not a list of job duties. That single shift is the biggest thing the generic “examples” online miss. Here’s what these templates put front and center:
- Quantified client impact. $ value delivered, % improvement, cost saved, deal size, headcount scaled — a number on every engagement. Money, scope, and results are what consulting hiring scans for.
- Engagements & frameworks. Group work by client and engagement, name the framework or method, and own the stakeholder relationship (CXO, sponsor). The vocabulary to use: engagement, client, deliverable, scope, recommendation, workstream.
- Specialty keywords for the ATS. For technical roles, the platforms (SAP, Salesforce, Workday, cloud, ERP); for risk, the frameworks (SOX, SOC, regulatory); for growth, the channels and metrics (CAC, LTV). Mirror the exact terms from the job post.
- Credentials. MBA, CPA/CIA/FRM, AWS/TOGAF, or platform certifications — and for independents, your day rate, availability, and a client roster that proves demand.
Breaking in or going solo? Career-changers should reframe past projects as engagement-style, quantified bullets; independent and 1099 consultants should use a practice name and group work by client (don’t write “Self-Employed” as a title). For an in-house operating role instead of advisory, see business analyst or project manager.

- Click Open in Google Docs to copy it into your Drive, or Download Word for the
.docx. - Swap the engagements and stats for your own — $ value delivered, % impact, deal size, clients served; for independents, set your day rate and client roster.
- Mirror the job post’s keywords — your specialty platforms (SAP, Salesforce, cloud), frameworks (SOX, M&A, GTM), and the word “engagement” — so the ATS scores you.
- Keep it to one page; export a PDF to send and a Word copy for ATS portals.
