Printing

How to print a 5 x 7 retirement invitation at home

The two-per-sheet PDF is the home route: print it on letter-size card stock at 100% (no “fit to page”), double-sided, flipping on the short edge, then cut on the crop marks. Two 5 x 7 cards come off each sheet and fit an A7 envelope. For a single card use the 5 x 7 PDF on 5 x 7 stock, or print it on letter paper and trim.

Every design is drawn on a light page, with the color carried by the art and the type. A stack of invitations for an office or a congregation should not empty an ink cartridge, and the cards still read cleanly on a black-and-white printer. The elegant designs look best on a smooth ivory or cream cover stock; gold and silver print as toned ink, not foil.

For a print shop or an online printer, send the print shop PNGs: 1575 x 2175 pixels is 5 x 7 inches plus an eighth-inch bleed at 300 dpi. To send it instead of printing it, the text-or-email PNG is sized for a phone screen and works as an email attachment or a team-chat image.

Frequently asked questions

Is the retirement invitation maker free?
Yes. Every design and every download (PDF, PNG and Word) is free, with no watermark, no account and no email address.
Is there a Word version?
Yes. Type your details in the maker first, then download the Word file: a 5 x 7 document with the finished front and back as full-page pictures, ready to print from Microsoft Word or Google Docs.
Can I change the colors?
Every design has three palettes, each a different color: navy and gold, black and gold, red, white and blue, sage, teal and coral, sunflower and more. Pick one under Colors; the badge stays as you typed it.
Can I add a photo?
Yes, on the 10 designs with a photo window. Drop in the picture and drag it until it sits where you want it.
Will a long name or rank fit?
Yes. The name sizes to fit, and long military ranks such as Chief Warrant Officer or Senior Master Sergeant fit on two lines.
Will printing a stack use a lot of ink?
No. Every design and every palette is drawn on a light page, with the color in the art and the type, so a stack of invitations prints at home without draining the cartridge.
