Most Valuable Player

The season's headline award. Announce it last, and let the stat line do a sentence of the talking — then say the thing the stat line missed.

Batting Champion

Highest average, minimum at-bats you set in advance. Objective awards need their criteria said out loud so second place nods instead of wondering.

Pitcher of the Year

Innings, poise, and the games kept close. In youth ball where pitch counts spread the load, it can honor the most dependable arm rather than the hardest one.

Slugger Award

Extra-base power. Pairs naturally with Batting Champion when different players win them — contact and power are different crafts.

Leather, legs & motor

Golden Glove

Best defender, any position. The youth-league cousin of the pro award — the body text credits the outs the box score never records.

Clutch Player

The two-out, runners-on at-bats and the ninth-inning plays. Every team knows exactly who this is by August.

Utility Player

Played everywhere the lineup card needed. In rec ball, this is often the coach's most quietly valuable player — say so.

Hustle Award

Runs out every ground ball, backs up every throw. The award that tells the whole roster what the program actually values.

Most Improved & Rookie of the Year

The growth pair. Most Improved measures the distance traveled; Rookie honors the strongest first season. Both mean more with a specific example attached.

Character awards

Coaches Award

Attitude, effort, coachability. The staff's personal pick, and traditionally the most heartfelt speech of the banquet.

Team Captain

For formal captains or the de-facto leader the dugout already follows. The body text covers both readings.

Sportsmanship Award

Respecting the game, the umpires, and the other dugout. In leagues with a sportsmanship standing, this one carries real weight with parents.

Team Spirit Award

The player who kept the dugout loud in a losing streak. Also the perfect everyone-award so every player takes home a certificate.

The best baseball banquets run on a simple rule: one named award per player. Start with the roster and assign each kid the honor that actually fits — the Golden Glove for your shortstop, the Hustle Award for the kid who sprinted to first on walks, Clutch Player for the one who lived for two-out at-bats. Stacking four trophies on one player teaches the other eleven that the banquet isn’t about them.

What awards should a youth or Little League team give out?

For the youngest divisions, keep performance awards light and give every player something — Hustle, Team Spirit, Most Improved, and fun custom awards (Rally Starter, Best Dugout Chatter) carry the night. From kid-pitch up, the classics earn their place: MVP, Batting Champion, Golden Glove, Pitcher of the Year. A good banquet list is one named award per player, not five awards for the same shortstop.

What is a Golden Glove award?

It's the traditional name youth and rec leagues use for the team's best-defender award — a nod to the professional Gold Glove without being it. On this certificate the body text credits 'the outs that never show up in a box score,' which is exactly the point of the award: defense is the contribution the scorebook undercounts.

How do I make sure every player gets a certificate at the banquet?

Plan from the roster, not the award list: walk the lineup and give each player the honor that fits — named awards for the standouts, Team Spirit or a custom '2026 Season Award' for everyone else. Then run the form once per player in lineup order; the team details stay filled in between downloads, so a full team takes a few minutes and nobody watches the banquet empty-handed.

Can I change a name or fix a typo after downloading the PDF?

The supporting text — presentation line, recognition text, team name, date, and coach line — are live PDF form fields, so those edit in any PDF viewer. The player's name and the award title are typeset in the design's display fonts for print quality, so re-run the generator for those; it takes seconds and the rest of your settings stay put.

What should baseball certificates be printed on?

US Letter landscape. For banquet presentation, 80–100 lb card stock is the sweet spot — stiff enough to hand over without flopping, thin enough for any home printer. The Ballpark design's cream background is deliberate: it looks like aged scorecard paper and doesn't drain ink the way a full-bleed color background would.
