Every one is a free PDF sized for US Letter. Nothing is personalised in the artwork — the family name, the year and the plans are blanks you fill in by hand.
Print it, hang it, count.
All seven print on ordinary US Letter paper from a home printer. There is no page-flooding background colour, so a chart costs you the ink in its outlines and nothing more, and every mark sits inside the quarter inch a consumer printer cannot reach — nothing important gets clipped.
Print on ordinary paper if it is going on the fridge. If it is going on a wall for a month, 28 lb stock takes crayon and marker without buckling and still feeds through a home printer.
Which countdown suits which child
- Three to five— Color the Tree or Santa’s Beard. Big targets, one obvious action a day, and a finished picture at the end.
- Five to eight — the Advent Calendar or the Gingerbread House. Numbers matter at this age, and both reward counting properly rather than just colouring.
- Eight and up — the Sleigh Route or the Kindness Advent. Both ask for something to be written rather than coloured, which is what keeps an older child interested past the first week.
- A whole family — the Kindness Advent. Twenty-four blank cards you fill in together is a different activity from a countdown one child owns.
Turning one into a decoration
The advent calendar is the one to cut. Slice three sides of each door with a craft knife, leave the fold line uncut, and every door lifts to show whatever you have taped behind the sheet — a sticker, a small sweet, a note about that day’s plan. Mount it on card first or the doors will curl.
The string of lights and the gingerbread house both look deliberate enough to frame or hang once they are finished, which is more than most countdown crafts manage. The sleigh route works well printed at A3 by a copy shop if you want it to be the centrepiece rather than a fridge sheet.
