Blank label templates

The two everyday label grids with nothing printed on them. Take the outlines for a plain-paper alignment proof, or leave them off and hand-write the sheet.

30 per sheet — 1″ × 2-5/8″

Blank 30-up label sheet

Avery 5160 geometry · 1" × 2-5/8" · 30 per sheet. Everything runs in your browser — nothing you type is uploaded.

What goes on the labels

A blank 30-up sheet with nothing printed on it — useful as a hand-writing sheet, or as a proof to check your printer’s registration before you feed real label stock. Turn on outlines below to see the cut lines.

Start at label 1
Skip labels already peeled off a part-used sheet. Counts left to right, top to bottom.

Blank 10-up label sheet

The thirty-second proof

Print the outlined blank on ordinary paper. Put an unused label sheet behind it, hold both up to a window, and look at the corners rather than the middle — drift shows up at the edges of the sheet first. If the printed boxes sit inside the real labels all the way round, you are good for every sheet that printer produces. If they creep, note which way and by how much, and set the nudge once.

Hand-writing still wins sometimes

For six labels, a pen is faster than any software, and for anything going to a person you know, handwriting reads as something a machine cannot fake. The reason to print a blank grid rather than write straight onto the sheet is simply that the printed boxes keep your lines level and stop you running into the gap between labels — the same problem the typed version solves, approached from the other end.

Frequently asked questions

What is a blank label template actually for?
Three jobs, mostly. Hand-writing a sheet when the addresses are short and typing them would take longer. Checking your printer's alignment on plain paper before you risk a real sheet. And giving yourself a printed grid to sketch a design onto before building it properly.
Will the outlines print on my labels?
Only if you leave them switched on. The outlines are a toggle, so a blank sheet can be genuinely blank. Keep them on for the plain-paper proof, then turn them off if you are printing onto real label stock and don't want a hairline box around each one.
Which of the two sizes do I need?
Look at the box. If it says 30 per sheet, or 1″ × 2-5/8″, or any of 5160 / 8160 / 5260 / 5960, you want the 30-up grid. If it says 10 per sheet, or 2″ × 4″, or 5163 / 8163 / 5263 / 5963, you want the 10-up.
Can I use this as an alignment test?
That is the best use of it. Print the outlined blank on ordinary paper, hold it against an unused label sheet in front of a window, and look at whether the printed boxes sit on top of the real labels. If they are off, come back and use the nudge control until they aren't.
Can I write on the PDF before printing?
Not here — this generates a flat PDF, not a fillable form. If you want to type into it, use the address or return-address makers instead; they do the typing properly, with automatic fitting. This page is for when you want a pen in your hand.
