How to hand out awards at a Christmas party or light contest
Holiday awards are the easiest ceremony of the year to run, because nobody is nervous. The only rule is to keep it short: contest winners first, while the sweaters are still on, then the superlatives, then one sincere award to close — Christmas Spirit or Holiday Helper reads well aloud. Fourteen certificates at thirty seconds each is seven minutes, which is exactly as long as a room full of people holding drinks will pay attention.
For a neighborhood light contest, print the certificates before the judging drive and fill in the winners’ names on the night — the name is drawn text, so it is quicker to type each winner into the generator than to hand-write it. Put the street or HOA name in the organization field and ’The Judging Committee’ as the presenter; a household winner reads best as ’The Vance Family’.
Classrooms doing a December awards day should keep the full-year awards on the student certificates and use these for the month: December Student of the Month, Holiday Helper, Christmas Spirit. Print on card stock, and if the school has a winter-holiday rather than a Christmas policy, the wordmark at the top is a form field — retype it to ’Winter Award’ after download and the design is unchanged.
Christmas award certificate questions
Is there a Christmas light contest award certificate?
Yes — Christmas Light Contest Winner is a preset, written for a display that stopped traffic. Neighborhood associations usually need more than one: type 'Best Use of Color', 'Most Traditional', 'People's Choice' or 'Griswold Award' as custom titles on the same Holly design, and put the street or HOA name in the organization line. The winner's name can be a household — 'The Vance Family'.
Can I use these for an ugly sweater contest?
Ugly Sweater Contest winner is the first preset and the one that gets printed most. For runners-up, the custom mode covers 'Ugliest Sweater — Runner Up' or 'Most Creative Sweater' with the same lettering, so the whole podium matches. The recognition line ('a garment so gloriously wrong it could only be right') is editable after download if your office has its own joke.
Do these work for a Halloween costume contest?
The Best Christmas Costume preset retypes cleanly: choose the Playful or Bold design instead of Holly, and type 'BEST HALLOWEEN COSTUME' or 'Scariest Costume' in the custom mode. The 'Holiday Award' wordmark at the top is a form field too, so it can read 'Costume Contest 2026' after download. Same generator, different holiday.
Is there a December Student of the Month certificate for classrooms?
Yes, and Holiday Helper and Christmas Spirit Award are the classroom companions to it — all three are written for a school setting and print well on the Playful design for K–5 or Gold Star for older grades. The full-year classroom awards — Honor Roll, Perfect Attendance, Kindness — live on the student awards page.
What paper should holiday award certificates be printed on?
US Letter landscape on 80–100 lb card stock. Holly and Gold Star print with color frames, so a decent inkjet or a print shop's color laser is worth it for the contest winners; the Classic design is nearly all navy and gold and prints well on any office printer. Keep the certificates flat until the party.
More certificates for December.
