Running Winter Reading
- Pick your dates (most libraries run January 1 – February 28) and put them on every piece.
- Print bingo cards and logs for the desk; put the patron link on your website so families can print at home with your logo.
- Adults and teens get bingo; kids get the streak log (bingo optional for strong readers).
- When a card or log comes back, initial it, hand over the milestone prize, and enter finishers in the drawing.
- Print certificates for finishers — the name and date fields fill on screen or by hand.
Prize tiers
- Each bingo line: a small prize (bookmark, sticker sheet, coffee from the café).
- Blackout or finished log: one entry in the grand-prize drawing.
- Grand prize ideas that cost nothing: a bookmobile visit, a private storytime, a name on the wall.
Tips from libraries that run it
- Any format counts — print, e-book, audio, graphic novel. Say so on the sheet; it doubles participation.
- One title per square. One prize per person per tier.
- Keep a stack at every service point, not just Youth Services.
