Birthday questions

Frequently asked questions about birthday gift certificates.

How much should I put on a birthday gift certificate?
For kids parties most people land on $10–$20. Close friends or family kids tend to be $25–$50. Adult friends and relatives are usually $25–$100, and milestone birthdays (21st, 50th, 75th) often land between $50 and $200 depending on closeness.
Can I use these certificates for a child's birthday party?
Yes — the Yellow Custom and Orange Custom designs especially are kid-friendly. If you want to keep the printable feeling personal, write the kid's name in the recipient field and add a short note about what the certificate is good for ('a trip to the toy store with Aunt Jen') rather than only a dollar amount.
What should I write on a milestone birthday certificate (21st, 50th, etc.)?
Treat the milestone like a one-line headline: 'Happy 50th, Dad!' or 'Cheers to 21.' Then put the experience or amount on the next line. Skip generic copy — milestone certificates feel cheap fast if they read like a gift card from a chain store.
Can I add a photo of the recipient?
Not directly — these are PDF form fields for text, not image embeds. If you want a photo, the cleanest move is to print the certificate, glue it to a piece of card stock, and add an instant photo or a printed photo with a glue stick.
Do these work for adult surprise parties or surprise gifts?
They do. The Blue Custom and Pink Frame both photograph well in a gift envelope, and the form fields let you write a hint about what the certificate redeems ('dinner at your favorite spot' / 'a Saturday at the spa') without spoiling the surprise itself.
