Bible Verse Countdown to Christmas

25 Bible verses to count down to Christmas Day, ten ways — scripture advent, a Jesse Tree, children\u2019s Bible lessons, memory verses, Christmas Bible trivia, a reading plan and a scripture chain craft. Every set downloads blank to fill in yourself, or ready-filled in King James, LDS or Catholic. All of them are editable.

Every set, two ways

Ten countdowns · blank or filled

Sets that need writing room span two or three sheets. Every download is a free PDF sized for US Letter, and every line you can write on is a real form field — so you can type into it on a screen, or print it and use a pen.

Scripture Advent — printable Bible verse Christmas countdown
25 doors · 3 sheets

Scripture Advent

Doors big enough to actually write a passage inside — nine to a sheet, with five ruled lines and a check circle. Day twenty-five spans a banner of its own.

A Verse a Day — printable Bible verse Christmas countdown
wreath + 2 sheets

A Verse a Day

A wreath of twenty-five flames to colour, and two companion sheets holding the verse for each evening. Colour the flame once the verse has been read aloud.

Jesse Tree Scripture — printable Bible verse Christmas countdown
vine + verse list

Jesse Tree Scripture

The traditional Jesse Tree: one symbol a day tracing the line from creation to the manger. A second sheet lists all twenty-five readings so nothing has to be looked up.

Children’s Bible Lessons — printable Bible verse Christmas countdown
list + 2 sheets

Children’s Bible Lessons

Twenty-five lessons on one sheet with a Christmas Day banner across the foot, then two sheets with room to write each lesson out properly.

Christmas Bible Trivia — printable Bible verse Christmas countdown
answers + 2 question sheets

Christmas Bible Trivia

An answer key on the first sheet, and two question sheets to work through — one question a day, with somewhere to write the guess before checking.

Memory Verses — printable Bible verse Christmas countdown
window + 2 sheets

Memory Verses

A stained-glass window of twenty-four panes with the twenty-fifth in the arch. Colour a pane each time a verse is recited from memory; write them out on the companion sheets.

Ten Names of Jesus — printable Bible verse Christmas countdown
the last 10 days

Ten Names of Jesus

A crown of ten jewels counting ten down to one across December sixteenth to Christmas Day. Five of the ten names come from a single verse in Isaiah.

Prophecy Countdown — printable Bible verse Christmas countdown
25 promises

Prophecy Countdown

Twenty-five promises foretold in the Old Testament, each paired with where it is fulfilled. Tick the box when it is read, fill the circle at its fulfilment.

Bible Reading Plan & Study — printable Bible verse Christmas countdown
25 evenings · 2 sheets

Bible Reading Plan & Study

Passage ranges rather than single verses — a sitting's worth of reading each evening, thirteen days to the first sheet and twelve to the second.

Scripture Chain Craft — printable Bible verse Christmas countdown
25 links · 2 sheets

Scripture Chain Craft

Wide strips with room for a passage and its reference. Write them out, cut along the dashed lines, and loop them into a paper chain to tear a link a day.

How they work

Type into them, or print and write.

Blank, or one of three traditions

The blank version leaves every line empty, which is what you want if your household reads a particular order, or your parish or ward is working through something of its own. It is also the one that suits any tradition, which is why it is listed first.

The filled versions come three ways, and they are not the same file with a different label. King James is the Protestant edition. Latter-day Saintkeeps the King James Bible — which is the Church’s official English Bible — and adds the Book of Mormon witnesses of the Nativity: Nephi’s vision of Mary, Alma’s prophecy, Samuel the Lamanite giving the sign, and the night without darkness in Third Nephi. Catholic follows the Douay-Rheims, draws on the deuterocanonical books, and carries the O Antiphons — the seven ancient titles of Christ sung from the seventeenth to the twenty-third of December.

The filled version is not a picture of a verse. It is the same sheet with the same fields, already typed into — so you can click any line and change it. Swap a translation, reorder the readings, or replace a passage entirely and the rest stays put.

The verses are different on every set

They are chosen for what each sheet is for, rather than the same twenty-five recycled ten times. The memory verses are short enough for a child to actually learn. The reading plangives passage ranges — a sitting’s worth each evening, not a single line. The scripture chain holds the shortest sentences in the set, because a paper strip is small. The Jesse Tree follows the traditional symbol sequence from creation to the manger, and prophecy pairs each promise with where it is fulfilled.

Which one suits what you are doing

  • A family at the table — A Verse a Day or the Bible reading plan. Both give you 25 Bible verses to count down to Christmas Day, one for each evening, and the reading plan works as a short daily Bible study rather than a single line.
  • Sunday school or a classroom— the children’s Bible lessons and the Christmas Bible trivia. The trivia ships as an answer key plus two question sheets, so one adult can run it for a group without preparing anything.
  • Something to make — the scripture chain is the craft of the set: write a passage on each strip, cut along the dashed lines and loop them into a paper chain to tear a link a day. The Jesse Tree is the other making project, one symbol drawn per day.
  • A shorter countdown — Ten Names of Jesus runs the last ten days only, 16 to 25 December, which suits a family that starts late or wants something less demanding than a full 25 days.

Printing

No page-flooding background colour, so a sheet costs the ink in its outlines. Nothing sits in the quarter inch a home printer cannot reach, so nothing important gets clipped. Ordinary paper is fine for the fridge; 28 lb stock holds up better if a chart is going on a wall for a month.

Free to print and use at home, in a classroom, in Sunday school or in a church group. Please do not redistribute the files themselves elsewhere on the web.
