Dragons turn out to be unusually good puzzle subjects, and it is the scales that do it. A dragon fills the frame with hundreds of small repeating shapes that are nonetheless graded — lighter along a spine, darker in a fold — so the middle of the board stays workable where a plain sky would defeat you. The crimson one over the lava island and the golden one on its hoard are the two that reward patience most; the sleeping earth dragon is the sneaky one, because half of it reads as landscape until you notice the ridge is a shoulder.

The unicorns work the opposite way. Each is a single pale animal against a strong seasonal background — wildflowers, autumn reflections, snowy birches, redwood light — so you build the setting first and the animal almost assembles itself at the end. That makes them the gentler half of this wall and the right place to start if fantasy boards are new to you. The mermaids sit in between: reef and tide pool detail everywhere, but a clear figure to anchor on.

Nothing here is a photograph, obviously, and nothing here is a character from anywhere. These are original illustrated scenes, free of logos, insignia and readable text — which is worth saying plainly, because a fair number of fantasy puzzle searches are looking for film and game tie-ins, and this wall is not that.

Frequently asked questions

Are these fantasy puzzles free to play online?
All thirty play free in the browser at 12, 24, 48, 67, 100 or 200 pieces, with no download and no account. The piece-count chips under each card jump straight into the size you want, and you can change it on the board itself once you have started.
Which is the hardest dragon puzzle here?
The Dragon's Hoard at 100 or 200. A crystal treasure chamber means the whole lower half is glittering facets in a dozen colours with no straight lines to work from, and the gold scales above it repeat by design. The Obsidian Dragon runs it close for the opposite reason — a black dragon in a moonlit cenote gives you very little tonal separation to sort by.
Do you have unicorn puzzles for younger children?
The unicorns are the friendliest boards on this wall, and at 12 or 24 pieces they suit young solvers well — one big clear animal, strong seasonal colour behind it, no menace anywhere. Unicorn in the Birches and Unicorn at the Falls are the two to start with. If you want boards drawn specifically for children rather than simply gentle, the kids' wall is the better place.
Are these from a film, game or book?
No, and deliberately not. Every board is original artwork made for this site — no licensed characters, no insignia, no readable text anywhere in the frame. If you arrived looking for a specific franchise's dragon, this is honestly not the wall for it. What you get instead is thirty scenes nobody has seen before, which is arguably the better property in a puzzle.
What happened to the sci-fi cities?
Still here, and there are twelve of them now — Cloud City above its gas giant, the Crystal Capital under a planet's rings, the ring city with cloud waterfalls, the domed gardens on a red desert world. They share this wall with the creatures because they share the same job: places and beings that do not exist, rendered in enough detail to be worth taking apart.
