A note on wording
“The Nelsen Family” works for cards and invitations. “D. Nelsen” works for everything, including the letters you would rather not announce. If you send both kinds of post, two sheets with different first lines cost you nothing extra and save you writing the corner out by hand for the next couple of years.
Where the thirty go
A sheet of return address labels tends to outlast the occasion you printed it for, which is the whole point of them. Beyond the envelope corner they end up on the back of library books, inside children’s lunchboxes and instrument cases, on casserole dishes going to a potluck, and on the reply envelopes that come with anything official.
If you are printing for a specific event rather than for the drawer, the “Start at label” slider is worth knowing about: use ten now, come back in March, and pick up at label eleven rather than opening a fresh sheet.

How many return address labels does one sheet make?
Thirty. That is a year of birthday cards for most households, or one December for a family that sends a lot of them. Print two sheets and you can leave one in the drawer with the stamps.
Should I include my name on a return address label?
For personal mail, a surname or family name on the first line is normal and helps the postal service return anything undeliverable. If you would rather not put a name on the outside of an envelope, a street address alone is perfectly valid — the post office only needs somewhere to send it back to.
How small should the text be?
On a 1″ × 2-5/8″ label, three lines at 9 or 10pt reads comfortably and leaves a clean margin. The maker shrinks text automatically if you go longer, but if it drops below about 7pt the label starts to look cramped — that is usually the signal to lose a line rather than to shrink further.
Can I make the family name stand out?
Turn on “Bold the first line”. It sets the first line in Helvetica Bold and leaves the address lines regular, which is the conventional look for a return address and reads well even at small sizes.
Can I use these on parcels as well as envelopes?
As a return address, yes — that is exactly what the top-left corner of a parcel is for. For the recipient's address on a parcel, use the larger 2″ × 4″ shipping format instead; carriers scan and sort those at speed and the extra size genuinely matters.
Do I have to make a new sheet every time I move?
You will need to regenerate the PDF with the new address, but nothing is saved or locked — there is no account, no stored design, and no file to go and edit. Type the new address, download, done.
