Frequently asked questions

Which public holidays are marked?
By default the calendar marks Australia's national public holidays — New Year's Day, Australia Day, Good Friday, Easter Monday, Anzac Day, Christmas Day and Boxing Day. Choose your state or territory from the 'Public holidays' dropdown to also mark the ones that vary locally, like Labour Day, the King's Birthday and Melbourne Cup Day. The dates are generated from the legislated rules and cross-checked against the state governments.
Why do the public holidays change when I pick a state?
Because most Australian public holidays are set by each state and territory, not nationally. Labour Day is a different date in every state, the King's Birthday moves around, and some days (show days, Melbourne Cup) only exist in certain places. Picking your state adds those to the national set so the calendar matches where you actually are.
Can I type events straight into the PDF?
Yes. Open the PDF in Adobe Reader, Preview on a Mac, Chrome, Firefox or any mobile PDF viewer, click a date, and the box becomes a text field. Type your event, then save the file — the events stay in. No paid software needed.
What paper size does it print on?
It's laid out to print cleanly on both A4 and US Letter, so it works with any printer in Australia. Choose portrait or landscape before you generate.
How is this different from the US version?
Same generator, but this one marks Australian public holidays and uses Australian conventions. If you need US federal holidays instead, use the US Monthly Event Calendar — the two are regional versions of the same tool.
Is it really free?
Yes — free for personal, family, classroom or office use, with no signup, no watermark and no limit on how many you print.
