Fine-Line Botanical Bridal Shower Invitations

Fine-line botanical bridal shower invitations drawn like an engraving: Fine-Line Peony with a single long-stemmed peony beside the headline, Olive Wreath with a fine olive wreath around the bride's name, and Lily of the Valley with a tall sprig of bell flowers rising up one side. Each sits inside a fine double rule (gold in Ivory & Gold, sage, mauve or silver-gray in the others), sets the bride's name in script, and carries the details in letter-spaced small capitals on a back with a matching botanical crest. The palettes are quiet on purpose: Ivory & Gold, Sage & Ivory, Mauve & Champagne, Dusty Blue & Silver and Champagne & Blush. Type the details and print on heavy cream or white card stock.

Hosting tip
Fine linework is what makes these cards look engraved, and it is also what a cheap printer setting blurs. Print a single test card on the best quality setting with the paper type set to card stock or matte, and check the thinnest stems before you run the stack. If the lines look soft, the print-shop PNG at a local copy shop is worth the few dollars.
How it works

Details, wording, colors, download

Open any design above in the maker. Type the bride's name, the date and the place; the back repeats the frame and sets the details in small capitals, with one line for the registry, the attire or what will be served. These are made for good card stock: a smooth 110 lb ivory or cream sheet shows the fine lines best.

Pick one of the three palettes drawn for the design, then download a 5 x 7 PDF (front and back), a two-per-sheet letter PDF for home printing, print-shop PNGs with bleed, 4 x 6 PNGs for a photo counter, a phone-sized PNG to text or email, or a Word file. For more lines to put on the card, see the bridal shower invitation wording ideas and the etiquette guide.

Frequently asked questions

Which botanical design suits a spring shower?
Lily of the Valley, a May flower, in Dusty Blue & Silver with its sample note "Brunch and champagne". Olive Wreath, in Sage & Ivory with "A garden luncheon will be served", reads Mediterranean and suits summer; Fine-Line Peony in Ivory & Gold works in any season.
Is the gold real foil?
No. The Ivory & Gold palette prints as a warm gold-toned ink from a home printer. For actual foil, take the print-shop PNG to a printer that offers digital foil and ask them to foil the linework.
Can I keep the formal small-capital details on the back?
Yes. The back is already set that way: "THE DETAILS" heading and the date, place and RSVP in letter-spaced small capitals under a botanical crest. Type over the sample lines and the spacing and style stay.
