Medical Assistant Cover Letter Templates & Example
Practice managers hire medical assistants for two things at once — clinical competence and front-office reliability — and they screen the letter for both. The letter inside these templates leads with certification (CMA/RMA), gives your patient volume and the EHR you chart in, names the clinical skills you perform, covers the front-office side, and states availability. Formal wine, contemporary jade, or twotone mint.
Pick a letterhead; the letter inside covers the clinic and the front desk.
Formal in wine for hospital-affiliated and specialty practices, Contemporary in jade for family and pediatric practices, Twotone in mint for urgent care and multi-provider clinics.

What a medical assistant cover letter should say.
A practice manager reading MA letters is picturing the room you’d be in. Give them what fills it:
- Certification, first sentence. CMA (AAMA), RMA, or ’MA graduate, CMA exam scheduled [date]’ — with BLS/CPR.
- Volume and the EHR. ’Room 25 patients a day for three providers, charting in Epic.’ Volume tells them your pace; the EHR tells them your training time.
- Clinical skills, by name. Vitals, injections, EKGs, phlebotomy, medication reconciliation — the ones the posting lists.
- Front-office reach and availability. Scheduling, insurance verification, prior auths — plus the days and shifts you can work and your start date.
New graduate with an externship? Write the externship as experience — practice, providers, patients per day, skills performed — the way the no-experience letter frames school and volunteering. Nurses have their own letter. Pair with a medical assistant resume.
Fill it in.
- Open a template in Google Docs or download the Word file.
- Fill the [brackets]: certification, patients per day, EHR, clinical skills, front-office duties, availability.
- Export a PDF and attach it — practices read letters; state your start date plainly.
