Jehovah’s Witness Memorial Program
A simple memorial program: songs, prayers and the memorial talk, with no cross.
A memorial service for one of Jehovah’s Witnesses is short and plain: a song, a prayer, a Bible-based talk given by an elder, and a closing song and prayer. The program should be just as modest. This template has that order in place and uses a design of sky and clouds, with no cross or other religious emblem.
The first has the memorial service order. The others are plain designs with a general order you can retype.
The service is held at a Kingdom Hall or a funeral home and generally lasts under an hour. Many programs print the scriptures used in the talk so that guests can follow in their own Bibles; the template has a place for them on the back panel.
The elders of the congregation arrange the talk and can tell you what is customary locally. Show them the program before it is printed.
Witnesses avoid crosses, candles and customs they regard as unscriptural, and the service honours the person without lengthy praise. A program in that spirit carries a photo, the name and dates, the short order above, a modest life sketch and the family’s thanks. Song numbers are printed rather than lyrics.
The sample verse on the template is quoted from the King James Version because it is in the public domain. Replace it with the wording from the translation the family uses.
