Serve food that holds for hours, like cookies, a cheese board and cider in a slow cooker, and say "light bites" on the back note so nobody skips dinner expecting a meal.
How it works

Details, wording, colors, download

Open any design above in the maker. One of these designs has a photo window: drop in a picture and drag it until it sits where you want it. Type the family or your names as hosts, the date and the address; the back carries the details and one practical line: what to bring, whether kids are welcome, the hours for an open house. The wording ideas list has family and food lines ready to drop in.

Pick one of the three palettes drawn for the design, then download a 5 x 7 PDF (front and back), a two-per-sheet letter PDF for home printing, print-shop PNGs with bleed, 4 x 6 PNGs for a photo counter, a phone-sized PNG or a Word file. For more lines to put on the card, see the Christmas party invitation wording ideas.

Frequently asked questions

What hours should a Christmas open house run?
Three or four hours suits most homes; the samples use 1:00–5:00, 2:00–6:00 and 3:00–7:00 PM. A window that long lets families with small children come early and everyone else come after errands.
Should I say whether kids and dogs are welcome?
Yes, it saves a round of texts. The Red Door sample reads "Kids & dogs welcome" and Wreath Portrait reads "Little ones welcome".
