Before you send

What a New Year invitation letter needs

An invitation letter is read quickly, often on a phone. Lead with the two facts people act on, the date and the RSVP deadline, then the address, the start time, who is welcome and what is provided. For New Year’s Eve, say whether children are welcome and whether guests can stay past midnight or over; both change who can come.

For work, a party in early January is often easier than one on the 31st, and the letter can say so plainly. If you send a card as well, every design on the New Year’s invitations page downloads as a phone-sized PNG to attach, and the wording ideas have shorter lines for the card itself.

Frequently asked questions

What should a New Year party invitation letter include?
The date and start time, the address, whether partners, children or friends are welcome, what is provided and what to bring, how to RSVP and by when, and one person to contact. Put the date and the RSVP deadline near the top; most people skim.
When should I send a New Year's Eve invitation?
Early December. The week between Christmas and New Year's fills up fast, so three to four weeks of notice gives guests a fair chance to say yes. A short reminder a few days after Christmas helps the headcount.
How do I invite employees to a New Year party?
Many companies hold the party in January as a kickoff, when people are back and calendars are clear. Say what it celebrates, keep attendance genuinely optional in the wording, mention non-alcoholic drinks and how to flag a dietary need, and give one RSVP contact.
Can I send a card with the letter?
Yes. Make one in the New Year's invitation maker and download the phone-sized PNG, which is light enough to attach to an email or paste into a message.
