How it works

Details, wording, colors, download

Open any design above in the maker. Type the family, the church or your names as hosts, the day and the hours; an open house puts its time range on the RSVP line. The back carries one practical line: what to bring, whether kids are welcome, parking, or the time a Noon Year's Eve countdown starts.

Pick one of the three palettes drawn for the design, then download a 5 x 7 PDF (front and back), a two-per-sheet letter PDF for home printing, print-shop PNGs with bleed, 4 x 6 PNGs for a photo counter, a phone-sized PNG or a Word file. For more lines to put on the card, see the New Year’s invitation wording ideas.

Frequently asked questions

What is a watch night service?
A worship service on New Year's Eve that carries the congregation into the new year in prayer. Methodists have kept watch nights since the 1700s, and in many Black churches the service also remembers Freedom's Eve, December 31, 1862, when people waited for the Emancipation Proclamation to take effect at midnight.
What should a church service invitation include?
The service name and time, the place, and what a newcomer wonders about: childcare, dress and what happens after. Peace Dove covers it with "Childcare available" and "Come as you are · Hot cocoa after", and Candlelight Vigil with "Fellowship & light refreshments to follow".
Can we use these for a New Year's Day service?
Yes. Change the badge to Friday, Jan 1 and the headline to the service name. The candle and the dove aren't tied to midnight.
