Wedding To-Do List Template

Thirty-one tasks every wedding has, sorted into the five stretches they belong to \u2014 twelve-plus months out, six to nine months, three months, one month, and the week of \u2014 with blank lines in each for your own. The Excel and Google Sheets versions show a progress percent per stretch and an overall count, so the answer to how are the plans going is a number. The printable PDF is the rose-and-script version for the planning binder.

Worth knowing

Percent per stretch is the honest measure.

An overall wedding percent lies: forty tasks ticked out of fifty sounds great until the ten left are all in the week-of section. Progress by stretch shows where you actually are. If the three-months block is at 30% and the wedding is in ten weeks, that is the number to act on.

Delegate the week-of list on paper. Print the last section, write a name next to each line, and hand it over; it is the only way the couple is not the point of contact on the day.

Frequently asked questions

Is this a complete wedding checklist?
It is the spine — the 31 tasks that almost every wedding involves, in the order they usually need to happen. Every wedding adds its own: a rehearsal-dinner venue, a second outfit, a visa for the honeymoon. That is what the blank line in each section is for; add rows freely in Excel and Sheets and the percents still work.
What if we have less than a year?
Compress the stretches, not the tasks. With six months, the 12+ months section becomes month one and the 6–9 months section becomes month two; the order holds even when the calendar does not. Book the venue, officiant, and photographer first — those are the three that sell out.
Can both of us edit it?
Open in Google Sheets puts a copy in one person's Drive; share it and you both tick from your phones, with the percents live. The Notes column is where the vendor name and quote go, and the Due column is for the deposit date rather than the task date.
Is there a matching wedding budget?
Yes — the wedding budget template in the budgets section has typical cost shares, deposits and balances, and cost per guest. This list tells you what to do; that sheet tells you what it costs.
