Common questions
How long a name will fit in the banner?
Up to 28 characters. The scrolled ends are fixed, so rather than letting a long name overflow, the type sizes itself down as you add characters — a short trading name sets large, a longer one sets smaller but still fits cleanly.
Why do the typeface tiles show “Ab” instead of my name?
A whole business name repeated across eight tiles would be too small to judge. A two-character specimen shows the letterforms at a size you can actually read, which is what you are choosing between.
Is this only for old-fashioned trades?
No. The body copy is written in a period register because that is the letterhead the banner lives on, but every line is editable — it suits a bakery, a bookshop, a workshop, or a practice that wants to look established.
