A plaque is a harder container than a ribbon. Its corners are clipped rather than square, so the flat your name actually has to sit on is shorter than the frame looks — which is why the type is solved against the inner rule rather than the outer one. Set a long name and you will watch it step down a size to clear the bevel instead of colliding with it.

The gold does not follow your ink. That is deliberate: a gilt frame with coloured type is the whole design, and letting both take the same colour would turn a nameplate into an outline.

Can I change the gold to another colour?

The plaque stays gilt on purpose — the colour control drives the ink of the name, so you get emerald, oxblood, navy or black type inside a gold frame. If you want frame and type in one ink instead, the Engraved Banner maker does exactly that.

How long a name fits inside the plaque?

Up to 30 characters, solved against the inner rule rather than the outer frame so a long name clears the clipped corners instead of running into them.

What is this letterhead for?

It descends from the Emerald & Cream estate design — vineyards, estate agents, family firms, private practices. Anyone whose letterhead should look like it has been in use for decades.
