Wording

What to write on a bunco invitation

The five lines cover the essentials. If you want a little more, these are the notes hosts add most often, in the order guests ask about them:

Pay-in and prizes

“$5 buy-in, prizes for most wins, most BUNCOs and the traveler.” Guests like knowing before they arrive.

Substitutes

“Can’t make it? Text me a sub by Tuesday.” A bunco night with eleven players needs a ghost card; ten is a real problem.

Food

“Dinner is on me; bring a dessert if you like.” Or the potluck version: “Sign up for an appetizer on the group thread.”

The theme

For a themed night, say so and say how far to take it: “Halloween bunco, costumes optional, hats encouraged.” The themed invitation already sets the tone; one line does the rest.

Bunco invitations, frequently asked

What should a bunco invitation say?

Five things: the date, the start time, the address, who is hosting, and how to RSVP by when. The template has a line for each. Add the pay-in amount if your group plays for a pot, and a note to bring a substitute's name if they can't make it.

How far ahead should I send bunco invitations?

Two to three weeks for a one-off party, so people can get sitters. For a monthly club, the yearly calendar in the club pack does the job once and the invitation becomes a reminder for themed nights.

Can I type into the invitation before printing?

Yes. The five lines are fillable form fields, so you can type the details once in Acrobat, Preview, or Chrome and print twelve identical invitations. Or print blank and handwrite each one.

What size are the invitations?

A2 size, 4.25 by 5.5 inches, four to a US Letter sheet with cut guides. They fit standard A2 envelopes and print fine on card stock.

Do the themed invitations match the score cards?

Every themed kit ships the invitation in the same colors and motif as its score cards, table tally, table tents and rules, so the invite that goes out matches the table guests sit down to.
