Teacher Assistant & Paraprofessional Resume Templates

Paraprofessional hiring is practical: are you certified (ESSA/ParaPro), which students and settings have you supported, what languages do you bring, and can you run a small group when the teacher's across the room. What principals read first

What goes on a teacher assistant resume.

The teacher decides whether you’ll make the room easier; the office decides whether you’re eligible. The layout answers both in the first look:

  • Eligibility, first. ESSA/ParaPro certification, associate degree or 48 credits, CPR/First Aid, state para license — in the rail where HR looks.
  • What you actually do. Small-group instruction, one-on-one IEP support, behavior support, reading/math intervention, classroom prep — as chips, scannable in seconds.
  • Populations and settings. Pre-K, elementary, SpEd resource, self-contained, ELL — named. It tells a principal which room to picture you in.
  • Languages. Bilingual aides are hired first in most districts. Put the languages in the rail, with proficiency.

Working toward a teaching license? Say so in the summary — districts promote from the para pool constantly. When the classroom comes, the teacher templates are the next step; for special-education certification specifically, the SpEd layout.

What should a teacher assistant resume include?
Eligibility credentials (ESSA/ParaPro, degree or credits, CPR), the support you provide (small groups, one-on-one IEP support, behavior support, intervention), the settings and populations you've worked with, languages, and any classroom-management or ed-tech experience. Results where you have them: reading-group progress, attendance, behavior data.
How do I write a teacher assistant resume with no experience?
Lead with your certification or credits and CPR, then any structured experience with children — tutoring, childcare, camp, coaching, church programs — written as instructional and behavior support. State the grade levels you're comfortable with. Bilingual? Put it at the top; it often outweighs experience.
What's the difference between a paraprofessional, teacher's aide, and instructional assistant resume?
Mostly the job title on the posting — the roles overlap almost entirely. Use the district's word in your summary and headline, and the same template. Special-education paras should foreground IEP support and behavior systems; general-ed aides small groups and intervention.
What skills belong on a paraprofessional resume?
Small-group and one-on-one instruction, IEP and 504 support, behavior support (PBIS, de-escalation), reading and math intervention programs by name, classroom routines, data collection, assistive technology, communication with teachers and families, and languages.
Should I put ParaPro or ESSA certification on my resume?
