What principals read first

What goes on a substitute teacher resume.

A substitute resume is read by an office that books forty subs a week and remembers the ones who made the day easy. Give them what they remember:

  • Days and range, as numbers. ’140+ days across K–12 in three districts’ — the single most persuasive line a sub can write.
  • Requested-back evidence. ’Preferred sub for 6 teachers at Lincoln Elementary’; long-term assignments completed. It’s the sub-world’s reference check.
  • Classroom management for a room you didn’t set up. Following lesson plans, holding routines, leaving real notes for the returning teacher — named as practices.
  • Availability and reach. Days per week, grade bands, subjects, how far you’ll drive. Coordinators book against this line.
