High School Teacher Resume Templates

High school hiring is subject hiring. What principals read first

What goes on a high school teacher resume.

Secondary committees read the resume as a course catalog — what you can teach, how well, and whether you’ll lead. The layout puts those in the first third:

  • Subject and endorsement, by name. ’Mathematics 6–12 · AP Calculus certified’ — the screen happens on the endorsement line.
  • Results by course. AP pass rates, state test proficiency, growth percentiles — per course, per year where you have them. Numbers are the whole argument.
  • Course load and levels. Honors, AP, dual enrollment, remedial — the range you’ve taught tells a department chair where you fit.
  • Beyond the classroom. Department lead, curriculum writing, coaching, club advising — high schools hire the whole faculty member.

How do I write a high school teacher resume?
Lead with subject endorsement and license, then a summary that names your subject, levels taught, and one result (AP pass rate, proficiency gain). Experience bullets organize by course and outcome. Add department leadership, curriculum work, and coaching — secondary schools hire for the whole faculty role.
What should a math or science teacher resume emphasize?
Course levels (Algebra I through AP Calculus; Biology through AP Chem), test and AP results, and — for science — lab safety certification and any lab-design or STEM-program work. Name the standards (Common Core, NGSS) once.
How is a high school teacher resume different from an elementary one?
It leads with subject expertise and measurable course results rather than classroom management and whole-child growth. Department chairs screen for the subject line first; elementary principals screen for the classroom. Separate templates for that reason.
What if I'm a new high school teacher with only student teaching?
