Should I draft my resignation letter in my work Google account?
No — and this is the one Google Docs question that really matters for a resignation. A document in your employer's Workspace is visible to their administrators, lives on their domain, and stops being yours the day you leave. Make the copy in your personal Google account, draft there, and only the finished PDF ever touches work systems. If you clicked 'Make a copy' while signed into work, delete that copy and redo it signed into your personal account.
How do I turn the finished letter into a PDF or print it to sign?
In your copy: File → Download → PDF Document for the version you email HR — it locks the layout so it reads identically everywhere. To hand over a signed page, File → Print directly from Docs and sign above your typed name. Keep the Doc as your master; regenerate the PDF if anything changes. Both exports preserve the letterhead and spacing exactly as the preview shows.
Do I need a Google account? Is this really free?
You need a Google account because the copy saves to your own Drive — that's Google's mechanic, not ours; any free Gmail account works. Will the template look the same in Google Docs as the preview?
Yes — these copies were made from the Word originals through Google's own importer, and we check each design after import: letterhead, rules, spacing, and the letter itself carry over cleanly. Fonts render with Google's equivalents where a system font differs, which never changes the layout. As with any application document, glance at your exported PDF once before sending — what you see there is what your manager and HR see.
