Free Paralegal Resume Templates

Free, ATS-friendly paralegal resume templates in Microsoft Word and Google Docs — genuinely free, no account and no paywall. Each leads with what legal employers screen for: your certification (NALA CP), legal software (Westlaw, LexisNexis, Relativity, Clio), and the core work — legal research, drafting pleadings and discovery, e-discovery and document review, case management, and deposition & trial prep. Three designs for three tracks — Litigation, Corporate, and Certified/Generalist — each in three colors.

The templates

Three paralegal designs, each in three colors.

Litigation for trial-side paralegals (a navy/gold credential band — NALA CP, cases supported, trials to verdict); Corporate for transactional work (a practice-areas matrix — contracts, governance, M&A, compliance); and Certified/Generalist for credentialed, multi-practice paralegals (a full credential sidebar). Every one opens in Word or Google Docs, stays on one page, and is built to be ATS-friendly.

What to include

What goes on a paralegal resume.

Law firms and legal departments screen paralegal resumes for credentials, software, and proof you can move a matter. Put them up top — which is what these templates do:

  • Certification and software, by name. NALA CP (or your state/ABA credential), notary, and the platforms — Westlaw, LexisNexis, Relativity, Clio, iManage.
  • The legal core. Legal research, drafting pleadings and discovery, e-discovery and document review, case and docket management, and deposition & trial prep.
  • Quantified support. Cases supported, documents reviewed, trials to verdict, transaction size — numbers show the scale you operate at.
  • No experience yet? Lead with your paralegal certificate or ABA-approved program, internships, and legal-clinic work.

Adjacent role? For front-office legal support see administrative assistant templates, and to pair a letter with your application, the cover letter designs.

Common questions

Paralegal resume FAQ

What should a paralegal resume include?
Lead with your certification (NALA CP/CRP, ABA-approved certificate, or notary) and the legal software you know (Westlaw, LexisNexis, Relativity, Clio, iManage). Then show the work attorneys screen for: legal research, drafting pleadings and discovery, e-discovery and document review, case and docket management, and deposition/trial prep — quantified where you can (cases supported, documents reviewed, trials to verdict).
Litigation vs. corporate vs. certified — which template?
Use Litigation for trial-side work (discovery, e-discovery/Relativity, pleadings, deposition and trial prep); Corporate for transactional work (contracts/CLM, entity governance, M&A diligence, SEC/EDGAR); and Certified/Generalist when your credential (NALA CP) and multi-practice, bilingual support are the headline. Each is keyword-tuned for its lane.
How do I write a paralegal resume with no experience?
Lead with your paralegal certificate or degree and any ABA-approved coursework, then feature internships, legal-clinic or pro-bono work, and transferable skills (research, writing, organization, software). List Westlaw/LexisNexis training and the Bluebook. An internship at a firm or clerk role counts as experience — put it where work history normally goes.
Are these paralegal resume templates ATS-friendly?
Yes — they spell out certifications, software, and skills (NALA CP, e-discovery, Westlaw, drafting pleadings) in clean, parseable layouts with standard headings rather than burying them in graphics, so they read correctly in Word, Google Docs, and law-firm applicant tracking systems.
Should I list my certification and software prominently?
Yes. Legal employers filter on the NALA CP (or state/ABA credential) and the platforms you've used. All three designs surface them — Litigation in a credential band, Corporate in the skills footer, and Certified in a dedicated sidebar block.
Can I edit the template in Word and Google Docs?
Both. Click Download Word for the .docx, or Open in Google Docs to make your own copy in Drive. Everything is free — no account, no paywall.
How long should a paralegal resume be?
One page for most paralegals, including entry-level and mid-career; senior paralegals with extensive trial or transactional history can run to two. These designs are built to hold cleanly on one page.
