Common questions

Blank sudoku FAQ.

What is a blank sudoku template?

A blank sudoku template is an empty 9×9 grid, printed with the heavy three-by-three box rules already in place, so you can write a puzzle into it by hand or solve one you copied from elsewhere. Every grid on this page is empty — no starting numbers, no answer key.

How many blank sudoku grids fit on one page?

All four common layouts are here: one, two, four or six 9×9 grids per US Letter sheet. One per page gives the largest cells to write in; six per page is the usual choice when you are drafting several puzzles at once.

Can I get a blank sudoku template in Excel instead of PDF?

Yes. The same grids are available as .xlsx spreadsheets, including a self-checking version that turns a cell red when you repeat a number in a row, column or box. They open in Excel, LibreOffice and Google Sheets, and contain no macros.

Do you have blank grids for kids?

The 4×4 sheet uses digits 1–4 in two-by-two boxes and can be solved by scanning alone, which suits roughly ages four to six. The 6×6 sheet is the step up from there before a full 9×9.

Can I make a real sudoku puzzle instead of a blank one?

Yes — the generator on this site builds unlimited 9×9 puzzles graded Easy to Sadistic, with an optional answer key, and exports them straight to a printable PDF in the same one, two, four or six per page layouts. You do not have to write a puzzle by hand unless you want to.
